JTO

Jito

DeFi

Solana's dominant MEV and liquid staking stack, whose token has captured little of that position.

Core infra, weak capture v1.1 · as of 2026-10-21 · framework v1.13 Coinsight · all analyses
Bottom line

Jito runs the infrastructure most Solana validators use to order transactions and collect MEV tips, plus JitoSOL, a ~9.85M SOL liquid staking pool. Protocol revenue to the DAO has fallen five quarters in a row, to $1.28M in Q2 2026, while ~11.3M JTO a month still unlocks to insiders. JTO is −55% over a year, worse than BTC and ETH, but has doubled from its February low. The bet now is JTX, a trading platform launched in July whose fees buy and burn JTO, and the end of insider vesting around November 2026.

How a Solana trade with an MEV tip flows through Jito

Trader or searcher
Sends a bundle with a tip

Wants a swap or arbitrage landed in a set order; adds a tip paid in SOL.

Block Engine / BAM node
Runs the auction

Simulates bundles and picks the best-paying ones; BAM applies ordering rules and app plugins.

Validator
Includes it in a block

Runs the Jito-Solana client or BAM; the bundle lands atomically or not at all.

Tip distribution
Splits the SOL tip

Most goes to the validator and its stakers; a small fee goes to the Jito DAO and Jito Labs.

JitoSOL holder
Earns staking plus MEV

StakeNet delegates pooled SOL to validators; tips lift yield (~8% APY in Q1 2026).

Jito DAO
Collects fees, sets rules

Stake pool and tip fees go to the treasury; JTO holders vote on fee levels and spending.

Where JTO comes in: nowhere in the transaction itself. Tips, fees and staking are all in SOL, so JTO is bypassed. JTO only votes on how the DAO sets and spends fees, and since July 2026 it is bought and burned with 80% of JTX trading fees.

Q2 2026: traders paid $9.9M in tips, most of which goes to validators and stakers; Jito's protocol revenue was $1.28M (57% stake pool fees, 42% tip fees). Insider unlocks of ~11.3M JTO a month, ~34M a quarter, are valued at ~$0.50 per JTO, an approximate Q2 average from the price line. Revenue covered about 8% of unlocked value. JTX buybacks started after Q2 and are not included. Sources: Blockworks Q2 token holder report via Solana Compass; CoinMarketCap unlock note.

    Protocol revenue

    JTX buyback and burn
    Not yet reported

Live since July; no audited fee or burn totals found for Sep–Oct. DefiLlama has a community dashboard.

Jito's reach keeps growing (a third of Solana stake on BAM), but the money flowing through it is shrinking: tips halved and protocol revenue fell 45% in Q2. Until JTX volume shows up in reported burns, insider unlocks far outweigh what JTO captures.

Project

What it is
MEV and staking infrastructure for Solana: the Jito-Solana validator client and Block Engine (bundles and tips), the BAM block-building network, the JitoSOL liquid staking pool, and since July 2026 the JTX trading platform.
Team
Jito Labs, led by CEO Lucas Bruder and CTO Zano Sherwani, builds the software; the Jito Foundation and Jito DAO (JTO holders) govern fees and treasury. Backers include Multicoin and Delphi Ventures.
Technology
Bundles let traders pay SOL tips for guaranteed ordering. BAM (Block Assembly Marketplace) moves ordering into separate nodes with plugins, and reached ~33% of Solana stake in Q2 2026 and 34.1% by 9 Sep.
Traction
Q2 2026: $9.9M of tips (TOV, −50% QoQ) over ~1.045B transactions; protocol revenue $1.28M (−45% QoQ), the fifth straight decline from $26.1M in Q1 2025. JitoSOL at 9.85M SOL.
Competitors
Other Solana LSTs (Marinade, Sanctum, exchange tokens such as Binance's bnSOL); alternative block builders and validator clients; for JTX, Jupiter and other Solana trading front ends.
Key risks
Fewer MEV tips as Solana spam and arbitrage fall; Jito deliberately delays fee capture from BAM plugins; JTX volume unproven; insider unlocks until ~Nov 2026; DAO treasury is mostly JTO.
Roadmap
JTX perpetuals, prediction markets and a native mobile app are announced but not live; BAM decentralisation to more node operators and a Firedancer-based "Fire BAM" are in development.

ATH check ATH check passed. CoinGecko's $6.01 ATH is a launch-day spike (7 Dec 2023), but price came back to about $5.26 in April 2024, within 50% of it, so the ATH stands as the reference.

Tokenomics

Supply
1B JTO fixed at launch, no inflation; ~535M circulating (53%). One tracker puts total supply at ~986.5M after burns.
Emissions
No protocol emissions. New float comes from vesting unlocks and DAO or foundation grants from the community and ecosystem allocations.
Unlocks
Core contributors (24.5%) and investors (16.2%) vest over 3 years after a 1-year cliff: ~11.3M JTO a month (7 Aug unlock: 11.31M). Schedule ends ~7 Nov 2026 per Tokenomics.com.
Utility
Governance only: votes on JIPs (fees, treasury, stake pool rules). Tips and staking are paid in SOL; JTO is not needed to use Jito.
Concentration
Insiders hold ~40% of supply via vesting; the DAO treasury ($164.7M in Q2, $154.6M of it JTO) is another large holder. 10% went to the Dec 2023 airdrop.
Sinks
JIP-38 (passed 13 Jul 2026): 80% of JTX fees buy and burn JTO for at least a year. No staking yield on JTO itself.

Bull case

Insider vesting ends around November 2026, removing ~11.3M JTO of monthly supply; JTX grows into perps and mobile so that 80% fee burns become material; BAM plugin fees turn Jito's reach into revenue. Price holds the $0.40–0.45 zone and retakes the $0.82 June high.

Bear case

MEV tips keep shrinking and BAM fee capture stays deferred, so protocol revenue drifts below $1M a quarter; JTX stays small; DAO and ecosystem grants replace vesting as the source of new float. Price loses $0.40 and retests the $0.24 February low.

Watch before the next re-run

  • Quarterly protocol revenue and TOV tips (Q3 report)
  • JTX volume and JTO burned through the Rev Splitter
  • The ~7 Nov final insider unlock and any DAO grant releases
  • $0.40 support (Sep closes) and the $0.82 June high
